Nine services, all done in-house

Every service is genuine work we take on — not a holding page for something we'd subcontract out. Some are quoted together (decking and fencing, doors and staircases) because that's how customers actually ask for them.

Questions customers ask before booking

Generic questions that apply across every service. For service-specific FAQs (kitchen pricing, garden room planning permission, etc), see the relevant service page.

Are you insured?

Yes — £2M public liability cover across every job. If you want the certificate sent across before we start, just ask and it'll be in your inbox the same day.

Do you provide a written quote?

Always. Every job — fitted joinery or whole-build carpentry — gets a written quote before any work starts. The quote breaks out labour, materials we supply, and any third-party costs separately. If anything is going to change the price (rot found under a floor, a supply price shift) you hear about it before it happens — not on the invoice.

How far in advance are you booked up?

Typical lead time is 4–12 weeks booked ahead depending on the season and the size of the job. Smaller jobs (a wardrobe, internal doors, a flooring refresh) often slot in sooner. Send a brief description with the rough dimensions and the area, and I'll come back with the current availability and a realistic timeline.

Do you supply materials or do I?

Either works. For most fitted joinery I supply the timber, sheet materials and ironmongery — I get trade prices and you don't have to coordinate the deliveries. For kitchens, worktops and floors the customer often wants to pick the exact finish themselves, in which case I'll tell you the quantities and specs to order and we'll work around your delivery. Same for ironmongery — if you've fallen in love with a particular handle, send me a link and I'll build to it.

Do you do drawings and design, or just build?

I build. For most fitted-wardrobe, alcove-cabinet and standard kitchen work I can work from a sketch, a photo, and a measuring-up visit — no architect needed. For structural alterations (load-bearing wall removal, extensions) you'll need an architect or structural engineer; I can recommend one I work with. I don't charge for the initial site visit and the written quote — if you then want more detailed drawings for a builder or for planning, that's a separate cost we can agree up front.

What people say about the work

Tom is a real craftsman and made our ideas and vision for our office come to life. Tom was a pleasure to work with and is a highly skilled and professional carpenter; we have already engaged for the next project! Excellent value. Highly recommended.

Nikki Smith · Google review

Tom is an excellent carpenter and I would highly recommend him. He has great attention to detail, craftsmanship and is very solution focused. Tom always thinks about the best materials for the job and the best way to implement it. Tom has done a couple of jobs for us and we are very pleased with the results, we would recommend Tom and use his services again.

Lauren Harris · Google review

Tom recently hung a new door for me and did some boxing in. He was quick, worked spotlessly and was great at communicating availability and the progress of the work. Brilliant and will definitely ask Tom to complete more work for me in the future.

Sophie Gulliver · Google review

Tom was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave advice regarding our requirements for built in wardrobe shelving and doors. He provided a very competitive pricing for works to be undertaken at the outset.
